Noise and Light Discipline
There may come a time in an SHTF (shit hits the fan) scenario where you may need to make a movement in the night.
Here we will give some tips for you to take into consideration if such an occasion arises or you just may want to add to periodically training. When training noise and light discipline, if you have some fellas to train with you; even better.
Noise Discipline
- It should go without saying that you want to avoid any unnecessary foot or vehicle movement.
- Secure any loose end on your equipment or person with tape to avoid clanging or snags.
- Avoid unnecessary talk.
- If you have radios, ensure they are on only when needed. Keep the volume low or wear an earpiece or headset. (see our Ops Core Headset)
- Establish visual queues and signals.
Light Discipline
- Do not smoke.
- Conceal flashlights or light sources under a blank, woobie, poncho, etc.
- Cover or blacken reflective surfaces
- Conceal or cover vehicles with available or natural camouflage.
- If a flare or intermittent light comes on, close one eye to preserve night vision.
